Crumbling, 1999
The pavement of the path is crumbling into the river in this 1999 photo. The problem underlying the poor guardrail placement and crumbling pavement is that there is just not enough width here for the path. As the path extension was being planned, the author of these pages suggested not attempting to build this section, instead spending the limited funding on appropriate traffic signals for all the intersections. another solution would be to narrow Nonantum Road from four to three lanes; that has been proposed more recently and may actually happen.
